A Sure Answer: I Don't Know

Can "we don't know" ever feel like a sure answer? It did for me this week.

That was the answer our leader had for us this week on the question of "how do recent events in our future home affect us?" He said, "Frankly, we don't know. It's too early to tell." In fact, it was just a month ago last week that he was expelled! Although it's felt like a lifetime between then and now in the grand scheme so much has yet to parse out from the situation. Many are still on 'the list' of to-be expelled and local believers are being interrogated and even harmed. Where will this go? Will it get better or worse? There is a lot of time between now and September for things to change.

For me, "we don't know" was permission to say "I don't know". I don't have the ability to do more than plan our steps through August. That's what we do know. I am released to wait and see what happens. We can concentrate on working with what we do know and hoping for the best for what we'll do after that. This, to me, is an answer I can work with.

We have ideas of what we'll do if a) we can move forward to our new home and b) if it's not a good idea yet. Those are held with an open hand too. We are just going to relax and enjoy the present. We have hope in God which never disappoints.

  1. ooh, the German word, 'locker' (loose) would be fitting here. I do like the visual that comes with holding something with an open hand. It's such a sacrificial gesture.

I'm feeling so 'fed' right now after a solid sermon/church experience today. I hope you guys are as well. Hugs!
